SUBSCRIPTION INFORMATION
Licensing and subscriptions
One subscription across supported Syntalume editors.
Paid-release terms effective October 1, 2026. Trial and recovery behavior clarified October 3, 2026 for Syntalume 0.11.2 and Companion 0.2.2. Update older installations to receive these reliability fixes.
Annual plans
Syntalume costs $9 USD per year for 1 simultaneous activation, $12 for 3, or $20 for 6. Each plan includes the same supported features. Taxes, if applicable, appear at checkout. Prices are per plan, not per activation.
Your 30 days
New users receive 30 full days starting when the in-editor notice is first shown. Existing Auralis and Syntalume users also receive 30 full days starting when the transition notice is first shown in the paid release. Old beta trial timestamps do not shorten this period. No account or payment details are required to start it; installation never authorizes a charge.
Purchase and renewal
Checkout charges the selected annual amount immediately. It does not start a second trial. The subscription renews annually until canceled. You can cancel future renewal in the Polar customer portal. The checkout and portal show your billing dates.
What counts as an activation
An activation is one editor installation and its local license storage. Separate VS Code-compatible editors, JetBrains IDE installations, and remote extension-host installations can each use a slot, even on the same computer. Theme and Companion share one activation within the same JetBrains IDE. Multiple windows that share the same installation storage share that activation. A remote installation needs a writable, persistent storage location. Remote hosts connected to the same VS Code UI installation share the local trial period, using the earliest known dates; paid activation slots remain separate. This local trial is not a universal account-level trial across different machines or editor products.
Activate or move a license
Use the license key delivered by Polar and available in the Polar customer portal. In VS Code-compatible editors, run Syntalume: Activate License. In JetBrains, use Tools → Syntalume License. Deactivate an old installation before activating another. If an installation is lost or an activation was interrupted, remove that activation in the portal and use the editor’s reconciliation option before retrying.
Connectivity and expiration
The free period is stored locally and can work offline once the notice has been shown. Closing the notice does not end that period. Paid licenses require online activation and periodic validation with Polar after activation consent. A previously verified license can continue for up to 72 hours from successful validation during a temporary connection or service failure, never beyond the known license expiry. Confirmed revocation does not receive this grace. If grace ends while verification is unavailable, interactive and background features pause but selected appearance is retained. Confirmed license expiration or revocation can replace selected Syntalume themes and icons with editor defaults. Replaced selections are retained for safe restoration when access returns, provided you have not changed them yourself. Source files are not altered; recovery and license-management commands remain available.
Platforms and earlier releases
Browser-only extension hosts such as vscode.dev/github.dev are not supported by this paid release. The same subscription requirement applies to the paid releases distributed through Visual Studio Marketplace, Open VSX and JetBrains Marketplace. Open VSX is a distribution channel, not a separate permanently free edition. The standalone JetBrains Theme supports IDE build 223 and newer; optional Companion requires build 243 and newer. Older packages are not remotely rewritten by this release. Marketplace identifiers retain Auralis for update continuity.
